Fact sheets on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights

Young people between 10-24 years constitute approximately one third of India’s population. In the coming years, India will have highest number of young people, which will continue to grow till 2050. Prevalent socio-cultural norms contribute in existing challenges of young people that are under nutrition, early marriage, early pregnancy, poor access to information and services related to reproductive and sexual health, sexual abuse and violence etc. These challenges need to be addressed urgently. Access to reproductive and sexual health information to young people in a local language is one of the important steps need to be taken to initiate the change. CHETNA is presenting a set of 14 fact sheets in Gujarati language on different topics of reproductive and sexual health like, growing up: changes during puberty, sexual and reproductive organs and their functions, safe motherhood, reproductive tract infections, HIV and AIDS safer sex, contraceptives, human rights, sexual and reproductive rights, sex and sexuality, gender based violence, etc. This set of fact sheets will prove useful to the Non Government Organisations and Government Organisations who are working for young people’s health and development. It can prove important library resource for the educational institutions.

Poster on Prevention of Anaemia (3D)

This poster is designed to increase awareness on prevention of anaemia, a condition that directly affects overall health of young girls and women. The attractive three dimensional poster is the first of its kind and has generated a good amount of interest among all stakeholders. The poster reflects the image of a young anaemic girl; by changing the angle of the poster the image changes into a healthy looking girl with messages on prevention of anaemia. At the back of the poster, information and illustration about the causes, symptoms and prevention of anaemia in adolescence are provided.

Story on Prevention of Anaemia

A flexible chart which can be displayed on a wall has been developed depicting the social factors that influence the causes for anaemia. This chart is in an illustrative story form with minimum use of text. It has been developed in consultation with the community.

Flip Book on growing up for young girls

This flip book has been developed to assist young girls understand the process of growing. Information on menstruation along with much needed guidance related to care during menstruation is depicted pictorially. It also highlights the need of gender equality for overall development of adolescent girl. The flipbook has been developed specifically with the understanding to ease the mental and emotional trauma young girls experience during the onset of puberty.

My Rights, My Responsibilities- Learning to Teach Child Rights

This Trainers' manual aims to sensitize and enable teachers, trainers and NGO functionaries. It provides basic information about child rights with participatory activities to make learning interesting. The manual comprises of seven training modules - Understanding the Child, Why Child Rights - including Indian and UN Perspective of Child Rights, Child's Right to Survival, Development, Protection and Participation, Child Rights - Programming and Advocacy. These modules can be effectively integrated in pre-service or in-service teacher training programmes and also be used for capacity building programmes. The training manual comes with a companion reader, as a Resource Book to provide material that can be used by the trainer/facilitator during the training, consisting of definitions, statistics, case studies, activities and more.

A World Without Tears

A Reader for children providing awareness on child rights, is an attractively developed story book to enable children to understand what rights are and the rights of children, while encouraging them to spread awareness about children's rights as well as initiate action in their communities. It gives them a vision of a world without tears, a world where all children are cared for and protected, have equal opportunity to grow and develop and participate actively to create a just, fair and harmonious society. The story book is illustrated with sensitive and inspiring drawings by children.
