Maternal Health

World Health Organisation estimates show that out of the 5,29,000 maternal deaths globally each year, 1,36,000 (25.7%) occur in India. This is the highest burden for any single country. The Government of India has time and again made policy and programmatic statements and set up goals of reducing maternal mortality. In spite of clear policy intentions, the progress on the ground has been very slow.

CHETNA has been advocating for ensuring effective measures for delivery of entitlements to the rights holders and communicating with the communities so that they realise their entitlement.
