UDAAN Training Module for Young Educators on Reproductive and Sexual Health

The training module has been developed based on CHETNA's experience of working with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in Mehsana District of Gujarat State. Providing a unique opportunity to young people to reflect on their views about self learning, relationships and receive technical information about Reproductive and Sexual Health (RSH) aspects. Gender, Life Skills Education, Concept of self development are integrated along with tips for facilitating learning process and guidance to organise training on RSH. Learning is ensured through participatory methods.

Apron on the Process of Menstruation

Apron of female reproductive system and process of menstruation is useful to provide scientific information for young people. A useful tool to impart reproductive and sex education to young people and educators/trainers.

Apron on Male Reproductive System

Apron depicting Male Reproductive System, can be used as an effective educational tool to enhance awareness on the male reproductive system. The apron includes crucial information and illustrations on Non Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) and the use of condoms. This apron has been developed to impart sexual and reproductive health awareness among young people.

Reflections -A Workbook/ Hum-Tum Guidebook for Young People

A Workbook was developed in English, which was adapted in Hindi as a guidebook for young people entitled HUM-TUM, meant for peer educators to assist them in discussing health and growing up concerns of young people. Topics such as physical, mental and emotional changes, communication skills, friendship, marriage, sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood, gender and violence are addressed. The guide book helps young people to reflect upon and analyse their concerns and find possible solutions. Later, a Gujarati version was developed for the Govt. of Gujarat, for wide dissemination.

Child Birth Picture Book

Realising the dearth of teaching-learning material on reproductive and sexual health in local language, CHETNA transcreated the Universal Child Birth Picture Book, written by Fran P. Hosken by Women's International Network News to suit Indian conditions and context. The Child Birth Picture Book contains complete, pictorial information on male and female reproductive system, conception and the process of child birth. There is also a special section on guidelines for health workers to facilitate discussions on these issues at the community level. This book is widely applicable at all levels and especially beneficial to community health practitioners such as trainers, donors, field workers, crèche workers, as well as community members.
