CHETNA, along with partners in the Women’s Health and Rights Advocacy Partnership (Since 2002…) is advocating for continuum of quality care through the life course of women and girls. with engagements for advocacy at the national, state levels and with partners in 13 districts of Rajasthan state.
In the state of Rajasthan, CHETNA is strengthening SuMa-Rajasthan White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood to advocate for Continuum of Quality Care from the public health system through the Women’s Health and Rights Advocacy Partnership-South Asia in partnership with ARROW Malaysia. Engaging with Facility Based Committees-Rogi Kalyan Smitis
A baseline on the status of these committees at 19 health facilities-PHCs/CHCs was conducted. A orientation kit for the members was developed. Orientation workshops committee members at 19 facilities were organised in 2014-15. In 2016, the strategy changed to organise orientation of committee members of 13 blocks. At these orientations, community representatives, civil society representatives are also invited and focus on their roles and responsibilities, regular meetings, listening to women’s feedback on the quality of services and taking action to improve the services. Facility wise action plans are developed which are followed up by partners.
Engaging with Gram Sabha
Gram Sabhas are constitutionally mandated spaces for peoples participation in local governance. A baseline of 31 GramSabhas was done. Partners ensured timely release of orders.Engagement with Gram Sabhas was strengthened by articulation of women’s demands for maternal health services, ensuring their participation in Gram Sabhas, making proposals and following through for actions at Gram sabhas.
