The project proposes to demonstrate convergence at the village level. The frontline workers appointed especially by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Department of Women and Child development are overlapping in delivery of above listed programmes and maternal health programme from where the young women between the 20-24 years are accessing the services. CHETNA proposes to involve Prerak a social animator appointed by Department of Education and literacy to play key role in imparting reproductive and sexual health information and counsel the young people. It is visualized that they will also foster enabling environment at the village and family levels for young people to claim their reproductive and sexual rights.
To actualize the convergence among the programmes the project proposes to use the existing structure of committees or form new committees at village and district levels through which the process of convergence be planned and monitored. At the village level, the existing Village Health, Nutrition and Sanitation Committees will be empowered to monitor the process of convergence of the programmes at village level to make reproductive and sexual health services accessible to young people.
At district level, a special committee will be formed which will have membership of all the concerned departments, CHETNA and PHFI who will facilitate joint planning and information sharing to take appropriate decisions and facilitate convergence.
At state level sharing meeting will be regularly organized to discuss the progress, challenges and solutions. The district level nodal officer for adolescent health programmes will be invited in these meetings. Concerned official from Department of Women and Child Development and Department of Education and literacy will be invited.
